Two at MM&R Appointed to Councils of the Illinois State Bar Association

Belleville, Ill., January 12, 2011 . .The law firm, Mathis, Marifian & Richter, Ltd. (MM&R), today announced that two of its attorneys have been appointed to different Councils of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA).

George Marifian, a founding partner and shareholder at MM&R, was reappointed to Federal Taxation Council of the ISBA. Marifian concentrates his practice in business law, civil and criminal tax controversy, estate planning and probate and litigation related to these practice areas. He is a recognized tax authority and has more than twenty-five years experience handling tax controversy matters. A past chair of the Council and a long-time member of the ISBA, Marifian has served continuously on one of the organization’s section councils or committees since 1985.

Kevin Stine, a shareholder at MM&R, has been appointed to the ISBA Commercial, Banking and Bankruptcy Law Section. Stine has been a shareholder at MM&R since 1994. He focuses his practice in banking law, bankruptcy, real estate law, commercial litigation and civil litigation, and has more than 20 years experience handling litigation matters for financial institutions and commercial enterprises.
