BELLEVILLE LAWYER LORRAINE CAVATAIO ELECTED AS FELLOW TO THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF TRUST AND ESTATE COUNSEL

Belleville, Ill., March 25, 2011 . . .. Lorraine Cavataio, shareholder of Mathis, Marifian & Richter, Ltd., in Belleville, Ill., has been elected as a member of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). ACTEC is a nonprofit association of lawyers established in 1949. Its members are elected to the College by demonstrating the highest level of integrity, commitment to the profession, competence and experience as trust and estate counselors.

According to ACTEC’s web site, all ACTEC members have made substantial contributions to the field of trusts and estates law through writing, teaching and bar leadership activities. ACTEC and its Fellows file amicus briefs in appropriate cases, testify before Congress, provide in-depth analysis of administrative positions to the Internal Revenue Service, assist in the development of best practices for trust and estate lawyers, and participate actively in the development of the recommendations being promulgated by the international Financial Action Task Force.


Membership in ACTEC is by election of the regents of the College. Individual lawyers meeting the criteria for membership are nominated by Fellows of the College and subjected to careful review by both state and national membership selection committees.


Cavataio’s other professional affiliations include being a member of the IICLE, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS), the American Bar Association (ABA) and the Missouri Bar Association (MBA). She also serves in the Probate Section of the Illinois State Bar Association.
